The Grizzly Prowl project features 35 artist embellished fiberglass bears that are a fundraising event for the Grizzly Scholarship Association. Tim was asked specifically to create a bear featuring the Grizzly football teams. He included important figures from the past and present.
On one side of the bear are 40 portraits depicting the Gridiron Greats. Tim spent countless hours researching old player files, looking for good pictures of these players.
Before the project was over, Tim gained as much respect for the players who aren't depicted the bear as those who are.
Some continued their football careers while others followed their chosen academic career path . All players were significant in developing and continuing the strength of the football program.
A special portion of the bear is dedicated to the tradition of handing down the number 37 jersey. On the other side of the bear shows players running out of the helmet to start a game.
As the players run from the helmet, the smoke turns into a Grizzly.
The bears were auctioned in September with the proceeds benefiting the student athletic scholarships. Tim's bear topped all others, raising more than $16,000. Tim's bear was donated back to the UM and has a permanent home in the Hall of Fame in the Adams Center.
